Saints Rally Falls Short at Cornerstone

(Grand Rapids, Mich.) Robert Campos (Elkhart, Ind.) scored in the 8th minute Saturday afternoon to give the Saints an early one goal lead, but Cornerstone fired off 4 straight goals to beat the Saints 4 - 3 in a non-conference match-up.
The Saints were able to hold off the Golden Eagles until the 34th minute when Nic Tolsma evened the game at 1. The two sides entered the second half tied 1-1. Brian Nimmo and Matt Osorio of Cornerstone put the Eagles up 3 after Osorio scored his second goal of the game in the 69th minute.
The Saints would not go down without a fight. Oswaldo Garrido (Elkhart, Ind.) scored twice in the 73rd and 78th minutes to pull the Saints within 1 goal. However, the Saints could not get the equalizer and fell to the Eagles 4 - 3.
Garrido's two goals give him a team leading 6 on the year. The Saints were outshot 13 - 6 and Cornerstone led in corner kicks 5 - 1.
Holy Cross falls to 4 - 5 - 1 on the year and will return to action Wednesday, October 6th, against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opponent Olivet Nazarene University. Olivet is currently 5 - 4 - 1 on the year and 2 - 1 in CCAC play. Kick off is set for 6pm at the Indiana Invaders complex.
