(South Bend, Ind.) The 22nd ranked Tigers of Olivet Nazarene rolled into South Bend to take on the Saints in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up at the Indiana Invaders complex.
The Saints managed to keep the Tigers off the board for the first 23 minutes of the game, but in the 24th minute Meghan Pipal broke the scoreless tie and the Tigers never looked backed. Michelle Davis put the Tigers up two in the 45th minute to give them a 2 goal lead entering half.
"We played really well the first half; our defense did a tremendous job keeping Olivet Nazarene away from our goal," said Head Coach Carlos Reynolds. "After they scored the first goal we kept defending well and at the last minute of the half Olivet scored the second goal, we lost our concentration minutes before the end of the half and allowed this to happened."
Olivet added three second half goals in the 50th, 58th, and 79th minutes to give them a 5 - 0 victory. Olivet improves to 8 - 3 - 1 on the year while the Saints fall to 1 - 10 overall and 0 - 2 in the CCAC.
"To play a ranked team the way we did was an accomplishment for us," said Reynolds. "Our defense is improving every game and it was good to see how many offside positions we were able to produce."
The Tigers outshot the Saints 32 - 1 and produced 11 cornerkicks. Holy Cross will travel to St. Xavier University on Saturday, October 9th. The Cougars are currently 7 - 4 on the year and 3 - 0 in the CCAC.
