(South Bend, Ind.) It took exactly 93 minutes and 29 seconds for the first goal to be scored during Tuesday night's Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match-up between the Saints and the visiting Cardinal Stritch University Wolves.
Unfortunately for the Saints it was Cardinal Stritch forward Ben Allen that put the golden goal past goalkeeper Damian Marciniak (Michigan City, Ind.) on a breakaway. Holy Cross played strong throughout but could not find the back of the net.
Holy Cross once again outshot an opponent and failed to win. The Saints outshot the Wolves 16 - 12 and were held scoreless for the second straight game. The Saints had plenty of opportunities to capitalize, but near misses and a couple of big saves by Stritch goalkeeper Mike Nowak kept the Saints off the scoreboard.
The Saints fall to 4 - 8 - 1 on the year and 1 - 4 in CCCAC play while the Wolves move back to .500. and currently hold the seventh and final spot for the CCAC tournament. The loss puts Holy Cross two spots behind Stritch.
The Saints will be back in action Saturday, October 16th, against Trinity Christian College. The Trolls are currently 6 - 6 on the year and 3 - 2 in the conference.
