(South Bend, Ind.) After four straight home losses the Saints finally earned their first home victories Friday and Saturday at the Ice Box. The home series sweep of Indiana University improves the Saints record to 3 - 5 on the year.
The Saints offense broke both games open this weekend scoring a total 22 goals between the two games. On Friday night the Saints took game one 11 - 6 in front of a very energentic home crowd. On Saturday the Saints put up 11 more goals on the scoreboard while only giving up 2.
On Friday night the short handed Hoosiers battled tough throughout and the game was tied at 5 after two periods of play. However, the Saints took command of the third period scoring six times to earn thier first home victory of the year. The Saints spread the offense around as 10 different players scored in the game.
On Saturday the Saints once again spread the offense around as seven different players scored for the Saints and Chris Rodriguez (Valparaiso, Ind.) recorded a hat trick. Holy Cross controlled all three periods and jumped out to a 5 goal lead before the Hoosiers were able to strike midway through the second period.
The Saints will return to action on Saturday, October 30th, and Sunday, October 31st, against Robert Morris at the Edge 1 Arena.
