(South Bend, Ind.) Throughout the year the men's soccer team has played most teams tough and Saturday at the Indiana Invaders wasn't any different as they hosted #23 Judson in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match-up.
The game remained scoreless until the 31st minute when Judson's Rafa Heck cought a bounce that threw off Saints goalkeeper Damian Marciniak (Michigan City, Ind.). The Eagles took a 1 goal lead into half.
The second half opened up with a lot of intensity from both squads. The Saints continued to pressure and were able to even the score in the 58th minute when Niko Jelicic (Ontario, Canada) headed in a ball from Garbhan Grant (Letterkenng, Ireland).
Four minutes later Zak Drake (Ontario, Canada) picked up a red card and the Saints were forced to play with 10 men. The Eagles took advantage and kept the Saints defense on their heels. However, Marciniak came up with big save after big save and regulation ended in a 1 - 1 draw.
For the second straight game and fourth time this year the Saints found themselves in overtime. On Wednesday the Saints played two overtime periods against Calumet St. Joe. It wasn't until the 103rd minute when Judson's Tom Kruse recorded the golden goal in O.T. to give the Eagles their 14th win of the year.
Holy Cross falls to 4 - 10 - 2 on the year and 1 - 6 - 1 in the CCAC. The Saints will travel to Illinois Tech before returning home next Saturday for their regular season finale against Robert Morris. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 pm at the Indiana Invaders complex.
