(Chicago, Ill.) The Holy Cross women's basketball team took to the hardwood at Alumni Gym to play Robert Morris University (NAIA DI).
The Saints led by one with 18:47 remaining in the first half after Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) hit a three to open the game. However, the lead was short lived as the Eagles quickly took back the lead and never looked back. RMU went on a 15 - 0 run holding the Saints scoreless over a 6 minute span.
Leading by as many as 29 points in the second half the Eagles used 28 points in the paint and 28 points off the bench to take the commanding lead. Leading the Saints was Lauren Malinowski with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) chipped in 12 points and grabbed 9 rebounds on the night.
As a team the Saints shot just under 27% from the field including 7-of-33 from behind the arc. RMU shot 45% from the field connecting on 31-of-68 attempts.
The Saints (1 - 6) will return to action next Tuesday, November 23rd, to host NAIA DI opponent Saint Xavier University at the Pfeil Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
