(Notre Dame, Ind.) Despite leading much of the first half the Saints were unable to hold off Trinity Christian as both teams opened Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play Wednesday evening in the Pfeil Center.
As a team the Saints shot just under 30% on 19-of-68 shooting which included 7-of-27 from behind the arc. Once again Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and 13 points. Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) had a team and game high 16 points and Megan Eve (Scottsburg, Ind.) chipped in 15 points including 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
Samantha Nekola led the Trolls with 15 points. The Saints built up an early 8 point lead, but the Trolls bounced back and tied the game heading into half. Overall there were12 lead changes and 7 ties throughout, but it was the Trolls eventually taking the game 58 - 52. Holy Cross falls to 1 - 9 on the year and 0 - 1 in conference play. These two teams will meet again on January 26th, at Trinity Christian for a 7pm tip-off.
The Saints will be back in action Saturday, December 4th, against Judson University in a CCAC match-up. The Eagles are 3 - 6 overall and 1 - 0 in conference play.
