Saints End 8 Game Skid, Earn Programs First CCAC Victory

Steffen Pulled down a game high 16 rebounds and added 13 points for another double-double
(Elgin, Ill.) Led behind Lindsey Steffen's double-double, the Saints ended their 8 game losing streak and earned the programs first ever Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win Saturday afternoon at Judson University.
Trailing by two after Judson's Kim Peek nailed a three pointer with 5:58 remaining in the game, the Saints shut down the Eagles going on a 15 - 0 run to capture their second victory of the season.
Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) had a team and game high 17 points for the Saints while freshman Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) recorded another double-double with 13 points and a game high 16 rebounds.
Mary Fitzgerald had 12 points while senior Tanesha Varnardo (Markham, Ill.) added 11 as the Saints won 67 - 54.
The Saints forced 21 turnovers while only committing 12 and they outrebounded the Eagles 59 - 57. Holy Cross only shot 31% for the game and 2-of-21 from behind the arc, but managed to hold Judson to 28% from the field.
The Saints move to 2 - 9 on the year and 1 - 1 in conference play. They will travel to Indiana Wesleyan University to take on the defending NAIA DII national champions this Tuesday, December 7th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
