Maggie Gondeck (center) signs with family and coaches at Michigan City High School
(Michigan City, Ind.) Maggie Gondeck of Michigan City High School will join the women's basketball program next fall. Gondeck is the first recruit to sign with the Saints for the 2011-12 recruiting class.
The six-foot forward/center helped lead Michigan City to a 15 - 8 record during the 2009-10 campaign including an 8 - 5 mark in league play. Gondeck had a career high 10 rebounds last December in a 66 - 49 win over New Prairie High School.
In an interview with the News Dispatch in Michigan City, Ind. Gondeck said; "Last year, my mom told me I needed to start thinking about what I'm doing for college, I got to Holy Cross and I absolutely loved it."
"Maggie is a great kid and has a wonderful family," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "Gondeck will make us a better team and add depth. I believe she will do very well at Holy Cross both on the court and off."
While attending Holy Cross, Gondeck will be pursuing a degree in education. After graduation she hopes to teach and coach basketball.
