Early Lead Lifts Pilots Past Saints

(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Saints welcomed the Lady Pilots to the Pfeil Center in a mid season non-conference match-up Wednesday evening in the Pfeil Center.
The Saints were held to just 8 points for the first 13 minutes of the game and the Pilots built up a 24 point lead before the end of half and cruised to a 66 - 47 win over the Saints. Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) led the Saints with 14 points and Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) finished the night with 13 points and 9 rebounds.
The Saints went on a quick 7 - 0 run in the first 45 seconds of the second half and managed to cut the Pilot lead to 15 with 6:16 remaining in the game, but Lady Pilot Heather Seyford scored 5 quick points to put Bethel back up 20.
Heather Seyford led all scorers with 22 points. Mandy Yoder chipped in 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Pilots.
The Saints continue to struggle from the field shooting just 28.8% including 5-of-30 from behind the arc. The Pilots outrebounded the Saints 49 - 33 and put away 14 second chance points to the Saints 7.
Holy Cross falls to 2 - 12 on the year and the Pilots improve to 8 - 5 overall. The Saints will be back in action for their final home game of 2010 this Saturday in the McKenna Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 1pm.
