After having over a month between games, the Saints took on Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) this past weekend at the Ice Box. The Saints had a tall task in front of them with a very limited bench in both games.

Game one proved to be all IPFW as they scored five in the first period with 16 shots on goal. Forward Luc Lothamer had two goals and one assist in the first period for the Mastodons. Taggard James added a goal for the Saints late in the first.

The Saints carried that momentum into the second period scoring twice to move within two goals by Levi Burkins and Kevin Hamilton. IPFW answered back as Adam Turney recorded his first of three goals on the night. Tyler Schmatz would pull the Saints within two goals with 9:41 remaining in the second. IPFW would not look back, scoring five unanswered goals to finish the game, and win, 11-4.

The Saints played much better in the second game despite the score. The Saints outshot IPFW in the first and third periods, but could not capitalize. Levi Burkins and Taggard James each recorded their second goal of the weekend. The Mastodons had seven different players score, and the Saints lost 7-2.
