(Milwaukee, Wis.) The Holy Cross women's basketball team traveled to Cardinal Stritch Monday evening to battle the #21 Wolves in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) game.
Today's game was originally scheduled for this Saturday, but the Saints were unable to get out of South Bend due to the snow storm that hit the city this past weekend.
Trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half the Saints cut the Wolves lead to 6 with 7:30 minutes remaining in the game, but Cardinal Stritch held on for a 71 - 62 win and kept their conference record perfect on the year.
Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) and Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) each led the Saints with 15 points apiece. Jillian DeLucia (Fishers, Ind.) chipped in 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting from the field. Cardinal Stritch was led by Angela Gray with 17 points.
The Saints were outrebounded 56 - 26 and gave up 18 second chance points. Holy Cross held the Wolves to just 32% from field and forced 15 turnovers. The Saints shot 38% from the field including 10-of-27 from behind the arc.
Holy Cross falls to 3 - 16 on the year and 1 - 3 in the CCAC. They will play 3 games in six days which includes a trip to Calumet College of St. Joseph this Wednesday. The Saints will return home Saturday to host Trinity International University at 1pm.
