(Notre Dame, Ind.) Led behind Melanie Duplessis and Reanna Perrara the Trojans led by as many as 29 points in the second half as they cruised past the Saints Saturday afternoon in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) game at the Pfeil Center.

Early in the first half the Trojans built a 14-5 lead but the Saints pulled within 2 points after going on a 7-0 run sparked by Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) and Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.). However, that was as close as the Saints would get to the Trojans as Trinity went on a 12-2 run to counter the Saints.

The Trojans took an 11 point lead into the half, but broke the game wide open in the second half to lead by as many as 29 points. Duplessis led all scorers with 31 points and Perrara pulled down 21 rebounds for the Trojans as they won their 13th game on the year 77-59.

"I thought Trinity did a good job of bringing a lot of intensity on the defensive end today," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "We didn't match their intensity and it was the difference in the game.  It seemed like we were not in this game mentally from the start and we committed turnovers that are very uncharacteristic of our team."

The Saints turned the ball over 20 times and shot just under 33% from the field on the day. The Trojans shot 41.9% on 31-of-74 shooting from the field. Leading Holy Cross was Lauren Malinowski with 18 points including 4-of-10 from behind the arc. Freshman forward Lindsey Steffen added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Kristin Nitka (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.

"We've been pretty good all year of not turning the ball over, but today was a different story," Hunsberger said. "I know our girls were disappointed with the game today and they will come back and continue to work hard to get better. Give Trinity International credit, they wanted it more than we did."

The Saints will return to action this Tuesday, January 18th, in a non-conference match-up against St. Francis University (IL). Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm and can be heard live on www.hcsaints.com and www.rrsn.com.
