(Notre Dame, Ind.) Trailing by 11 midway through the first half the Saints looked as though they were going to get blown out at home in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match-up Saturday afternoon at the Pfeil Center.

However, that was not the case as the Saints pulled within 2 points before the first half ended. Holy Cross kept the pressure on early in the second half and eventually took a 1 point lead, but it was short lived as Trojan Patrick Atkins nailed a 3-pointer on the next possesion to reclaim the lead for TIU.

Holy Cross kept it close throughout and were trailing 60-59 with 7:41 remaining in the game, but the Trojans outscored the Saints 22-10 throughout the remaining minutes and handed the Saints their 18th loss on the season 82-69.

"Unfortunately down the stretch we were unable to capatilize on our chances and turned the ball over in key spots," said Head Coach Bob Schermerhorn. "Trinity is a good team and we are going to have to take care of the ball to win games."

Justin Breveard (South Bend, Ind.) led the Saints and all scorers with 20 points. Taylor Williams (South Bend, Ind) added 17 points and pulled down 8 rebounds for the Saints. Leading Trinity was Patrick Atkins recording a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Trojans used 21 points off turnovers and 38 points in the paint to help lead them to their fourth conference victory. Holy Cross shot just under 44% from the field, but only 4-of-15 from behind the arc. Holy Cross falls to 2-18 on the year and 2-5 in conference play.

The Saints will host St. Francis University this Tuesday, January 18th, in a non-conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm and can be heard on www.hcsaints.com and www.rrsn.com.
