Shelbi Westerhouse Signs With Holy Cross For 2011-12 Season

(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross College women's basketball program welcomes Shelbi Westerhouse of Valparaiso, Indiana and Morgan Township High School to the recruiting class of 2011.
The 5'10'' forward is the daughter of Rodney and Kerri Westerhouse. As a junior she averaged 13 points per game and 7 rebounds including a game career best 27 point outburst for Morgan Township High School. Through 14 games this season, Shelbi is averaging 8.3 points per game 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals a game.
"Shelbi is a perfect fit for our basketball program and her versatility will allow us to use her at several different positions next season," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger.
Westerhouse has earned numerous awards during her playing career including being named to the Rick Bolus' High Potential Indiana High School Player Rankings for 2010 as well as being named to the All-Conference team by the Post Tribune during her junior season.
As a junior Shelbi also was voted team MVP and named to the Times, Morgan Township High School Female Athlete of the Year. Westerhouse was also named to the All-Conference team her junior and senior years for volleyball.
"Shelbi has the ability to knockdown the three and she's capable of getting to the rim off the dribble. I know Shelbi will give us some much needed help on the boards as well," said Coach Hunsberger. "She understands that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be a student-athlete at Holy Cross, but I know she has the drive to be a success."
