(South Bend, Ind.) Less than 24 hours after the Saints recorded their single game highest goal total they broke that record and set a new one with a 21-0 shutout victory over the visiting Lakers of Lake Superior State University.
It didn't take long for the scoring to start as Clairemont Ruff (Tustin, Calif.) netted the games first goal within the first minute of the game. He was assited by Jamie O'Conner (Carmel, Ind.). From then on it was all Holy Cross. The Saints scored 8 first period goals, 6 second period goals, and 7 third period goals.
11 different players scored for the Saints as they combined for 73 total shots on goal. However, it was a pair of freshman that led the way for Holy Cross. Sam Soukup (Stillwater, Minn.) led the Saints with 6 points on the afternoon recording 5 goals and 1 assist. Tommy Lyons (Valparaiso, Ind.) also recorded 6 points with 2 goals and 4 assists.
5 different players recorded 2 or more goals and 8 players recorded 2 or more assists in the game. Andrew Ebright (Ypsilanti, Mich.) led the Saints in goal facing 28 shots and recording the shutout in 60 minutes of action.
In the two games this weeked the Saints outscored Lake Superior 37-1 and improve their record to 15-7 overall. Holy Cross is now riding a four game winning streak heading into next weekends match-up.
The Saints will travel to Indiana-Purdue Ft. Wayne to take on the #12 ranked Mastadons in a very important two game series next Friday and Saturday night at the Conlan Ice Arena. The Saints will return home on February 11th and 12th as they close out their 2010-11 season with Robert Morris University.
