Athletic Director Nathan Walker announced the addition of a baseball program to the Saints athletic department this spring. The team will be club status for their first year. "I thought that we were several years away from getting a baseball program started, but the vision and passion of Dr. Sutula allowed us to move that timetable up to the present" said Nathan Walker.

Students have expressed interest in the past about a baseball program. Earlier this year, both Nathan Walker and Dr. Sutula had an informational meeting about the possibility of a team. "There has always been significant interest for a baseball program at Holy Cross," said Walker. "Both Coach Sutula and I were surprised about the nearly 50 students that attended the informational meeting."

With such a large number of students interested it became apparent that it was time to build a program. "It was obvious that we could make this a reality in the Spring semester of 2009. Coach Sutula has been communicating with the team and has acquired the services of renowned strength and conditioning expert, Dr. Mark Lavallee," Walker added.

"The quality of leadership from the coaches and the amount of interest and commitment from students is an excellent start to developing a winning program," said Walker. The Saints will begin recruiting and setting a schedule for this spring. For more information on Saints baseball, please email Dr. Tom Sutula at [email protected].
