(Bourbonnais, Ill.) The Saints were back on the road Tuesday evening for their second game in as many days. One night after a 98-74 loss to Purdue Calumet the Saints took on NAIA DI Olivet Nazarene University.
The Tigers, currently rank #21 in the latest NAIA DI Coaches Poll, earned their 21st victory on the year with a 110-79 non-conference win.
The Saints held the Tigers to just 30% shooting from the field; however ONU managed 112 total shots including 19-of-73 from behind the arc. The Tigers also went 23-of-33 from the free throw line.
The Saints were also outrebounded 78-63, and shot 38% from the field and only 4-of-16 from 3-point range. However, the biggest stat of the night was a season high 40 turnovers.
Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) recorded her 13th double-double of the season with a team high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) finished the night with 14 points and 7 steals. Megan Eve (Scottsburg, Ind.) added 12 for the Saints. Olivet's Holly Schacht led all scorers with 19 points.
The Saints drop to 5-22 on the season and will look to get back on track this Saturday, February 12th, against the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch. Holy Cross dropped a close game against the Wolves on January 10th, 71-62.
The Wolves (20-7) sit atop the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) standings with a 9-1 conference record. According to the latest NAIA DII Coaches Poll Cardinal Stritch is ranked #24 in the nation.
