(Notre Dame, Ind.) It was senior night for Holy Cross forwards Mark Wilkins (Chicago, Ill.) and Adam Dobrzykowski (South Bend, IN), but the Crimson Wave stole the show with a dominating performance Wednesday evening in the Pfeil Center.
Calumet College St. Joseph opened the contest with an 18 - 2 run and never let the game get close as they went on to a 76-53 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory. The Saints shot 39% from the field and only 3-of-13 from 3-point range. The Saints also only shot 6-of-16 from the charity stripe.
The Crimson Wave forced 17 turnovers turning them into 19 points and out rebounded Holy Cross 43-30. Leading all scorers was Calumet guard Wilfredo Escobar with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field.
Three players finished in double figures for the Saints. Junior Taylor Williams (South Bend, IN) led the team with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Senior Mark Wilkins chipped in 11 points and pulled down 6 rebounds while senior Adam Dobrzykowski finished the night with 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field.
Holy Cross falls to 4-25 on the year and 4-9 in the CCAC. The Saints will finish the 2010-11 regular season this Saturday at Trinity International University. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30pm.
