(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) has named freshman forward Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Ind.) Freshman of the Year (1st team All-Conference) and Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) second team All-Conference.
The 6-1 forward Steffen, averaged 15.5 points per game, 9 rebounds, and shot 44% from the field. Her 15.5 points was 5th best in the league and 8.8 rebounds were third best.
Averaging just over 30 minutes a game, Steffen pulled down a team high 192 rebounds and scored 476 points for the Saints. In 31 games this season, Steffen recorded 14 double-doubles. Those 14 double-doubles in one year is the most by any player in either men's or women's basketball and ties her for the most in a career by any one single player.
Six times this year Steffen recorded 20 points or more including a season and career high 28 points (12-of-17) on December 29th, against Union College. In that same game, Steffen also had a season best 17 rebounds.
Sophomore Lauren Malinowski was named CCAC DII second team All-Conference. Malinowski led the Saints in scoring with 16 points per game on nearly 40% shooting from the field. She also led the team with 108 assists and 78 steals.
Malinowski's 16 points per game, 2.5 steals, and 3.5 assists per game ranked her 4th best in the CCAC. She also hit 53 shots from behind the arc giving her the 5th most in the conference.
