In their first true home game, the Saints started out strong taking an early ten point lead over visiting Concordia University Ann Arbor. The lead quickly dissolved as Concordia went on a 26 - 2 run that stretched into the second half. "We came out strong and played with a lot of emotion," said Head Coach Steve Baumgartner. "We stopped playing our game, and let Concordia control the tempo." The Saints trailed by 16 at half, shooting 31% from the field.
Despite the 74 - 52 loss, the game was historic for the entire Holy Cross community. "It was great to finally have a home court," said Athletic Director Nathan Walker. "Once our fans have the familiarity of the Pfeil Center it will be loud, and feel like a home court to everyone" Elliott Jones Jr. led the Saints with 17 points. Adam Dobrzykowski added 11 points and 9 rebounds. The Saints will travel across town to take on #2 Bethel College Tuesday evening.
