(Bourbonnais, Ill.) The Saints baseball team was back on the field Monday afternoon at Olivet Nazarene University in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action.
In game one, Pat Huyge through a gem on the mound completing six innings giving up 7 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned, walking 1 and striking out 3. However, the Saints bats only produced 1 hit on three hits.
Olivet Nazarene took a first inning 1 run lead after two doubles in the inning. The Tigers added to their lead in the bottom of the 5th on a SAC fly.
Down two runs in the top of the 7th the Saints did not go down quietly as Ryan Trosko led the inning off with a triple. After Pat Sweeney came in to pinch run for Trosko, Dan Wawrzusin reached on an error allowing Sweeney to score and cut the Olivet lead to 1.
Unfortunately for the Saints they were unable to push across another run as the game ended on a double play.
In game two it was all Olivet driving in 8 runs on 8 hits for the game. Tiger pitcher Fightmaster held the Saints to 2 hits striking out 6 in 7 innings of work.
Olivet drove in 5 runs in the first two innings and 3 in the 5th to complete a 3 game season sweep of the Saints and take game two 8 - 0. The Saints dropped last Thursday's game 12-2 at Thomas Memorial Stadium.
The two losses drops the Saints overall record to 1 - 30 on the year and 0 - 23 in the CCAC. Holy Cross will be back in action Wednesday, April 20th, against Roosevelt University at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Ill. Currently the Lakers are 7 - 21 on the year. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
