(Notre Dame, Ind.) Michael Vander Ploeg has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Holy Cross next fall.
     
 
The 5'11'' guard from Battle Creek, Michigan spent his first two years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College where he helped Kalamazoo to a District 8 championship and the teams first National Championship appearance.
Vander Ploeg attended Kalamazoo Christian High School where he was All - KVA 1st team and 3rd team All - State with the Detroit Free Press. At Kalamazoo Christian Vander Ploeg was part of the MHSAA Class C State Championship team in 2008.
"Basketball runs in his DNA," said Head Coach Bob Schermerhorn. "I am excited to add Michael and I know he will contribute to this team right away."
Vander Ploeg comes from a long line of basketball players including his brother, Steve Vander Ploeg, who attended Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity Christian College.
The son of Scott and Cindy, Michael will be working towards a degree in Business while attending Holy Cross.
