(Notre Dame, Ind)  Angela Byrd  has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Holy Cross next fall.

The 5'4 guard from Chicago, IL (Simeon) spent the last two years at Malcolm X College where she led her Malcolm X team to the Sweet 16 of the NJCAA National Tournament.  Her Malcolm X College Team was also NJCAA and District Champions during the 2010-2011 season.  Angela was named to the Regional All-Tournament Team in 2011.
"Angela brings a wealth of experience and talent to our basketball team for the upcoming season", said Coach Aimee Litka.  "We are very excited to add Angela to our team as she constantly demonstrates the skills and character of the players we are trying to get here at Holy Cross."
Byrd is from Chicago where she went to athletic powerhouse Simeon High School.  She excelled there as a student-athlete before she continued her collegiate career at Malcolm X College.
The daughter of Freddrick Williams and Erika Byrd.  Angela plans to major in Elementary Education while attending Holy Cross.
