The men's basketball team played Wednesday afternoon at the Conseco Fieldhouse against Indiana University East. Despite matching their season high in total points the Saints were out shot by the Red Wolves.
"It's not every day that you get a chance to play in an NBA arena," said Head Coach Steve Baumgartner. "I told the guys to have fun and remember the experience. "
The game opened up with both teams trading baskets, but Tyler Rigby of East took over late in the first half scoring 25 points, including 5 - 6 from three point range. The Saints were held to just 34% from the field, and trailed by 16 at half.
The Saints offense started to click in the second half, shooting 48% from the field, including 5 - 10 from three point range. East remained hot from the field shooting 55% in the second half. The Saints eventually fell to East 95 - 75. Elliott Jones Jr. (Hazel Crest, IL) led the Saints with 14 points and 6 assists. Mark Wilkins (Chicago, IL) added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
"It was a great experience to play in Conseco, and I thank IU East for the opportunity for our guys to play there," Coach Baumgartner said.
The Saints get a much needed rest over the holidays, and will return to action January 10th to play IU East in a rematch at the Pfeil Center.
