(South Bend, Indiana) The women's soccer team took on St. Xavier University at the Indiana Invaders Complex Saturday afternoon.
With the injuries piling up, the Saints were a little short-handed this game and the heat outside was not helping. The Saints put up a valiant effort, but it just wasn't enough as the St. Xavier Cougars would be the host Saints 9-0 at the Indiana Invaders Complex on Saturday.
St. Xavier started hot, netting the game's first goal in the 5th minute, but Holy Cross would settle down the next 10 minutes, and control much of that period of play. The Saints, however, could not come up with a goal, and St. Xaview took over after that.
Sophomore goalkeeper Hayley Craig (Granger, Indiana) and the Saints defense were busy all afternoon, as the Cougar attack seemed to never end. Craig would end up making 5 saves on the day for the Saints.
The Saints dug themselves an early hole, trailing 5-0 at the half. St. Xavier tacked on 4 more goals in the second half, and the Saints fell 9-0. The loss takes their record to a 1-8-1 mark The Saints return home on October 15th at 1:00 against Trinity Christian College at the Indiana Invaders Complex.
