The Saints Lacrosse team officially moved into the Great Lakes Lacrosse League (GLLL) for the 2009 spring season. The move gives the Saints a permanent home after playing the past 6 seasons against a variety of colleges and universities throughout the Midwest.
"The move made sense for our program, and the direction that we wanted to take it," said Head Coach Mike Hodge. "This league has quality opponents and it will also give a chance for our guys to play in a post season tournament.
The Saints have lost only three times over the past two seasons. This span included a 2 goal loss to Purdue University last year in the season opener, and a double overtime loss to Hope College in the MIAA tournament.
As a member of the GLLL the Saints will play in the South Division. The other members of the division include Eastern Illinois, Lake Forest College, Loyola, Northwestern, University of Chicago, Columbia College, and Southern Illinois University. If the Saints finish in the top two of their division they will advance to the conference finals, which take place the weekend of April 25th and 26th in Stout, Wisconsin.
"The season is rapidly approaching," said Coach Hodge. "Everyone will need to be mentally and physically prepared for the season."
