Women's Soccer - Mon, Oct. 31, 2011
Sophomore Karen Liddell Had One Goal & Two Shots For The Saints
(Bensenville, Illinois) Fresh off a 3-1 victory against Andrews University, the Saints traveled to the Windy City to visit #22 Robert Morris.
The Saints closed out their season Saturday afternoon against one of the top teams in the CCAC, 22nd ranked (13-4-1 (7-3 CCAC)) Robert Morris Eagles. The Eagles, a perennial powerhouse in soccer, advanced to the Elite Eight in the NAIA tournament last season.
The Saints were unable to get any consistent offensive pressure on Eagles goalkeeper Juana Valle, tallying 6 shots over the course of the contest. Valle stopped three, letting in one.
It was all Robert Morris in the first period, as the Eagles jumped out to an early lead on Senior Day. Saints goalkeeper Lindsey Swaim (Elkhart, Indiana) had her hands full with the Eagles all afternoon, saving 6 shots.
Sophomore Karen Liddell (Granger, Indiana) lead the way for the Saints, recording two shots on goal and an unassisted goal in the 67th minute. Fellow sophomores Haley Craig (Granger, Indiana) and Cassie Juarez (South Bend, Indiana) both recorded two shots on goal for the Saints.
The team will lose a pair of graduating seniors on defense in Marie-Louise Resweber (St. Martinville, Louisiana) and Valerie Patout (New Iberia, Louisiana). The seniors have played the last four years in Holy Cross colors, and the Athletic Department wishes them well for whatever the future has in store for them.
The Saints lost the game by a score of 11-1, and finish the season with a mark of 2-14-1.
