(Gary, Indiana) The Saints visited the Redhawks of Indiana University-Northwest Tuesday night to try and sweep the season series and win consecutive games for the first time this season.

The Saints were hoping to complete the season sweep over IUNW, a squad that was defeated 95-75 the last time they met November 12th at McKenna Arena. This time, however, the Saints found themselves on the wrong side of the 20-point difference.

It was Holy Cross College that scored first in the contest, but the Redhawks took control of the game early, opening up an early 17-6 lead behind IUNW's pair of 17-point scorers Sharon Houston and Juliette Keller. The Redhawks shot 36% from the field for the game, and attempted 43 free throws throughout the course of the contest, making 30.

Sophomore Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, Indiana) again set the pace for the Saints, recording another double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds. More impressively, Steffen shot 54% from the floor, accounted for 3 assists and 5 steals, and 5 of her 10 total rebounds were offensive.

Junior transfer Shalana Murray (South Bend, Indiana) chipped in 8 points and pulled down 8 boards in 18 minutes. Junior Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, Michigan), and sophomore Kristin Nitka (Chicago, Illinois) both tallied 7 points.

The Saints were right in the thick of the game for the majority of the contest, making more field goals than the Redhawks, but it was foul trouble that ultimately doomed their chances, as the Saints were whistled for 28 fouls compared to IUNW's 9. The 30 made free throws more than covered IUNW's winning margin of 20.

Fortunately for the Redhawks, the advantage of their home court and fan base enabled them to ultimately pull out the victory 70-50, aided not only by the lack of fouls called on their team as a whole, but also as a result of the stellar defense they played, allowing just 50 points by the Saints.

The loss drops the Saints record to (2-10) on the year. The Saints return home to host Andrews University in another non-conference match up Thursday, December 8th at 7:00 PM.
