(Notre Dame, IN) Head Coach Tom Sutula and Holy Cross Baseball have announced the signing of right handed starting pitcher Alex Erwin to the class of 2016.
Alex is a standout pitcher at Brandywine High School in Michigan. Last year he was 10-5 with a 3.00 ERA. He was voted All Conference and All District as a junior in the state of Michigan.
Alex is a very versatile athlete standing at a daunting 6'6 and is 210 pounds, and excelling at football and basketball at Brandywine as well. He has been clocked at throwing mid to upper 80s on his fastball, but has a mulitude of pitches to choose from when he takes the mound.
He proved his skills during his junior season closing a game against rival and state power Edwardsburg by striking out the side.
"Alex will be a major force for us next year as a starting pitcher. We as a coaching staff are very excited to get a recruit of his caliber, because we believe he will win many games in the CCAC as a starting pitcher," said Head Coach Tom Sutula.
Alex plans on majoring in business management when he attends Holy Cross in the fall. He is the son of Scott and Jennifer Erwin.
