(Notre Dame, IN) The Holy Cross Women's Basketball Team wrapped up it's regular season Saturday against Trinity International.
That Saints lost that game by a score of 86-74. That dropped the Saints to 4-8 in the CCAC final standings, and a fifth place finish. The final record and place in the standings were records for Holy Cross this season.
The end of the regular season means that they will be going on the road to face Judson University this Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 p.m.
The Saints split a pair of games between Judson this year. They won at home on December 3rd by a score of 57-53. Judson evened up the series on January 28th, beating the Saints 69-58 at Judson.
Holy Cross will rely heavily on the play of sophomore Lindsey Steffen (Nappanee, IN) and junior Lauren Malinowski (Dearborn Heights, MI) to win their first CCAC tournament game ever. Steffen is averaging just under a double-double on the season as she is averaging 15.6 points a game, and grabbing 9.8 rebounds a game. Malinowski is averaging 12.5 points per game, and also leads the team dishing out 4.6 assists per game from her guard position.
In the first game against the Eagles of Judson Malinowski led the Saints with 11 points while Steffen added a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. In the January 28th loss against Judson the Saints found contributions from other players as junior Jacques Donaldson (South Bend, IN) led the Saints with 16 points and sophomore Mary Fitzgerald (Livonia, MI) netted 14 points in the loss.
"We are very excited to face Judson on Tuesday. It is going to be a challenge as Judson is a talented team, but we have shown that we are capable of beating them. I know our girls are excited about the challenge, and I am proud of the girls for the way they have performed all season," said Head Coach Aimee Litka.
