Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in Tough Lee University Invitational
Men's Golf - Wed, Mar. 14, 2012
(Cleveland, TN) The Men's Golf Team finished fourth in a very challenging field at the Lee University Spring Invitational yesterday.
They finished the tournament at +33 just four strokes behind Cumberlands University which is currently ranked 5th in nation. They also were able to beat 3 other teams ranked in the top 25.
After the first day the Saints were actually beating Cumberlands University with an overall score of 311. The Saints were led on the first day by sophomore Matthew Code (Ontario, Canada) with a first day score of 74, and senior Eric Hartstein (South Bend, Indiana) was a shot off of Code with a first day score of 75.
The second day proved to be a bit more difficult as Holy Cross improved it's score to 298 for the day, but other teams scored just as well so the Saints had trouble gaining ground on the rest of the field ahead of them.
Hartstein had a blistering day two scoring a two under 70 to finish second overall individually. Code was not far behind as he shot and even par 72 finishing third. That gave the Saints two top three individual finishers in a very challenging field.
The Saints finished the round with a total score of 609 (+33) that tied them with Faulkner University for fourth place. There next tournament is the Thrill at the Hill at Donald Ross Golf Course March 25th down in French Lick, Indiana.
