(South Bend, IN) The Men's Golf Team competed in the Bethel Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Course. The Saints took home title while having Matthew Code (Ontario, Canada) and Eric Hartstein (South Bend, Indiana) finish first and second individually in the tournament.
The Saints took home the tournament championship in a field of thirteen teams. The closest competitor was Indiana Wesleyan who finished twelve strokes off the Saints winning finish. Holy Cross finished +8 overall for the two day tournament, and Indiana Wesleyan finished +20 for tournament. The Saints shot a total of 584 for the tournament, and had back to back scores of 292 over the two days of the invitational.
Holy Cross had four players finish in the top fifteen overall in the two day Bethel Invitational at the local Blackthorn Golf Course.
Code and Hartstein were the only individual competitors to finish under par for the tournament. Code had a remarkable three under 69 first round to set the stage for his first place finish. He shot a one over par 73 in the second round to finish two under par with a two day total of 142.
Hartstein shot a two over 74 on the first day, but bounced back to shoot a three under 69 on day two to finish one under par, one stroke off of Code, with a two day total of 143.
Chris Noble (Niles, Michigan) and Mike Prior finished tied for twelfth. They shot seven over par for a two day total of 151.
The Saints are currently receiving votes in the NAIA National Rankings for Men's Golf. They play this weekend, April 21st, in the CCAC Conference Tournament.
