(Notre Dame, IN) The Holy Cross Athletic Department is excited to announce the hiring of John Brodbeck as the new Sports Information Director.
Brodbeck returns to Holy Cross College where he received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Business in 2010. Upon completion of undergraduate study, Brodbeck attended Valparaiso University to pursue, and eventually receive, a Masters of Science degree in Sports Administration.
While attending Valparaiso University, Brodbeck worked as an assistant in the Sports Media Relations department. "While at Valpo, I felt I gained great hands on experience of what to expect coming into this job," Brodbeck said. "The opportunity to spend two years working in the media relations department was something I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to do." During his time at Valparaiso University, Brodbeck spent time assisting in covering Softball and Football. Throughout the 2012 Men's Basketball Horizon League Championship tournament, Brodbeck was responsible for setting up the media room, providing all media members access to the post-game press-conferences, and creating transcripts available to all outside media members.
A native of Stillwater, MN, Brodbeck has spent the majority of the past five years living in Northern Indiana. "I'm very excited to come back to the place where it all began," Brodbeck said. "Holy Cross has been so good to me throughout my time as a student and an alum. I'm very eager and excited to get started on my career path, and I'm very thankful that I get to begin this journey at Holy Cross."
"John will be a valuable new addition to our staff," said Athletic Director Bob Schermerhorn. "His willingness to obtain a Masters degree in Sports Administration demonstrates his dedication to the field of athletic administration. He will be an exceptional addition to our athletic staff. All I can say is welcome home, John!"
John currently resides in Mishawaka, Indiana and has a younger brother, Drew, who is a junior on the Holy Cross Hockey team.
