(Notre Dame, Ind.) Holy Cross Saints hockey coach Bill Schmatz is pleased to announce two more signees to to the 2012-13 recruiting class. Alex Haygood (South Bend, Ind.) and Nick Hernandez (Indianapolis, Ind.) help round out a very solid recruiting class.

Alex Haygood becomes the 2nd player joining the Saints in this class from the prestigious Culver Military Academy, one of the top prep hockey programs in the country. He recently spent this past season playing for the Junior A Minnesota Ice Hawks.

"Alex is a very disciplined, skilled, and well coached player," said coach Bill Schmatz. "His speed, playmaking ability, and offensive skill set wll bring another well versed player to our program."

Nick Hernandez is a well rounded player who has the ability to play either forward or defense for the Saints. A four year varsity player for Perry South in Indianapolis, coach Schmatz likes the versaility that Nick will bring to the team.

"At 5'8, Nick plays a lot bigger than his size," said coach Schmatz. "He's a very physical player, strong on his skates, and demonstrates good ice awareness. We will start Nick out on the defensive unit where he will round out an already solid group."

These two signings make it 6 total signees for the Saints hockey program. They will begin their season with a weekend series with the University of Louisville on Friday, September 14th, and open up at home on Friday, September 28th at 9:15 against Northern Illinois University at the Ice Box in South Bend.
