The Holy Cross men's baseball team completed their first 4 games last week at the University of Cumberland's. The spring break trip gave the players an opportunity to play outdoors for the first time as a team. The Saints dropped all 4 games to the Patriots playing a double header on both Monday and Wednesday.

With only 12 players making the spring trip, the Saints pitching was limited. Through 4 games the Saints had a team ERA (earned run average) of 12.25. Tim Mouton gave the Saints a lift throwing 8 innings with a 4.38 ERA.
"We had one 6 run inning and one 4 run inning.  We really didn't know what to expect since we had only been outdoors for practice once and that was the day before our first and second games," said Head Coach Tom Sutula.
"With only 12 players able to make the trip and playing 4 games in 3 days, our lack of depth in pitching is what hurt us the most."
Kevin Gray and Bob Dunsmuir chipped in throughout the week throwing 4 innings each. Gray and Dunsmuir also batted 4 for 9 in 4 games.
"We put together some really good innings and led by as much as 3 runs half-way through game one," said Coach Sutula."  We hit the ball very well and ran the bases well, including 3 triples.  I was surprised at our ability to score runs, 24 in 4 games."
Mouton also provided a boost batting, going 7 for 16, collecting 13 total bases, with 5 runs and 3 RBI'S in 4 games. The Saints will play at Ancilla College this Friday at 2pm.
