(Waukegan, Ill.) The Holy Cross Saints women's golf team opened the fall season with a 9th place finish at the Robert Morris Fall Classic.
Freshmen Sarah Hartle (Warsaw, Ind.) led the Saints with a 6 over par 80, which was good enough for the 10th best score in the tournament.
"For the first tournament of the year, I was very proud of how the girls competed," said Saints head coach Tim Holt. "I thought Sarah played exceptionally well for her first college tournament, and am thrilled at her top 10 finish. Her score of 80 was a school record, and I think she's very capable of breaking that many times before the year is over.
Sophomore Kelsie Skipper (Elkhart, Ind.) and freshmen Kendra Luckey (Danville, Ind.) were 2nd on the team for the Saints both shooting 91.
The Saints rounded out their team score with junior Victoria Anania's (Charleston, South Carolina) score of 100, and junior Kelly Murphy's (Youngstown, Ohio) score of 103.
The Saints are looking to use what they learned from this tournament to move forward for the remainder of the season.
"We're going to use this as a learning experience," said head coach Tim Holt. "We know what part of our games we need to improve on, and I expect us to do much better at the next tournament at Bethel."
The Saints women's golf team will take part in the Battle at Blackthorn, hosted by Bethel College, on September 24th and 25th at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
