Women's Basketball - Wed, Mar. 18, 2009
(Notre Dame, IN) The Holy Cross College women's basketball team announces the signing of 6'2'' Baysia Cox (Niles, MI) and 5'10'' Jacques Donaldson (South Bend, IN). The two girls are the sixth and seventh players to sign for the Saints 2009 - 2010 inaugural season.
Cox attends Niles High School and will bring a defensive presence on the court. Her senior season Cox averaged 4.7 rebounds per game and just over 8 points per game for the Vikings. She also recorded 6 steals in a game against Lakeshore, and again vs. Portage Central. "I loved the family atmosphere at Holy Cross," said Baysia after she signed. "I am looking forward to a successful first season with the Saints."
"Baysia is a major talent and a sweet kid who is willing to learn," said Head Coach Matt Hunsberger. "We got a tremendous player today when we signed her. I feel very fortunate to have her on our team."
Joining Cox next season is Jacques Donaldson. Donaldson will bring offensive fire power to the Saints. She averaged 19.2 points per game in her senior season with Riley High School. "I am looking forward to be a part of the first women's basketball team, and making history next season," said Donaldson after her signing. "I know Holy Cross will prepare me for life after college." Donaldson will be studying business.
"Jacques is the type of athlete we are recruiting here at Holy Cross," said Coach Hunsberger. "She is a pure athlete, and will give us versatility that will allow us to play her at multiple positions. Like Cox, Jacques is another amazing young lady who is willing to learn."
