(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross Saints women's soccer team fell to Robert Morris University Wednesday evening in their conference home opener 7-0.
Robert Morris was able to come out strong against the Saints early in the match gaining several shot attempts that just missed the net. In the 13th minute, Samantha Elliot gave the Eagles gave their first lead of the game.
The game didn't go much easier for the Saints as the Eagles were able to control the offensive flow for the remainder of the game.
The defense of Robert Morris also proved a tough task for the Saints, as they were unable to garner much offense. Robert Morris outshot the Saints 44-1.
Freshmen Zayra Valencia (South Bend, Ind.) had the lone shot on net for the Saints late in the 2nd half.
Goalkeeper Aileen Clouse (Beavercreek, Ohio) finished the game with 20 saves.
Wednesday's loss drops the Saints to 1-6-0 (0-2 CCAC) on the season.
The Saints women's soccer team will continue conference play in Deerfield, Illinois on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Trojans of Trinity International. Following Saturday's match, the Saints will return home for a match against the University of Saint Francis on Tuesday, October 2nd at 4:00pm EST.
