(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross Saints women's soccer team dropped their fourth straight conference match of the season Tuesday afternoon with a loss to the University of Saint Francis 9-0
A competitive first half, the game was scoreless until the 35th minute of action. Saint Francis was able to score 3 goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half, and went into halftime with a 3-0 lead over Holy Cross.
At the half, Saint Francis outshot the Saints 17-0.
The start of the second half proved to be a tougher challenge for Holy Cross. Saint Francis got a number of open looks and seemed to capitalize on all of them. This time, seventeen minutes in, they scored 6 straight goals to build up a 9-0 lead.
Holy Cross was able to get a couple of looks late in the second half and finished with 3 shots (1 on goal).
Junior goalkeeper Aileen Clouse (Beavercreek, Ohio) finished the game with 20 saves.
The loss drops the Saints to 1-8 (0-4 CCAC) on the season. They will continue CCAC play in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, October 6th against the Roosevelt University Lakers.
