(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross Saints women's basketball team picked up their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win of the season Tuesday night as they took down the Trolls of Trinity Christian College 65-43.
A 10-0 run throughout the first five minutes of action got the Saints off to a fast start. They were able to hold the Trolls scoreless until the 15:31 mark. The Saints were able to increase their first half lead to as large as 15 on two different occasions, and carried a 13 point lead, 28-15, into the break.
The second half started very similar to the first half as the Saints opened up with an 11-3 run increasing their lead to 39-18. Holy Cross would manage to hold on over the remainder of the game and pick up their first conference win of the season.
Junior Jillian DeLucia (Fishers, Ind.) made her first appearance of the year in the starting lineup and produced a very balanced game for the Saints. DeLucia finished the game with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in 33 minutes of action.

The Saints recorded their most rebounds of the season in the win over Trinity Christian pulling down a total of 61 (24 offensive, 37 defensive). Five Saints players finished with at least five rebounds in the contest.
"This game was a big one for us to win," said coach Aimee Niespodziany. "It feels good to get the first conference win of the season. I was very impressed with our energy throughout the course of the game. Even though we didn't shoot particularly great in the first half, we kept getting after it on the glass and found ways to hold onto our lead. Overall, it was a great team win."
The Saints, 2-5 (1-3 CCAC), will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 24th to take on the 19th ranked Cardinal Stritch Wolves. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. (EST).
