Shane Carnahan of Sycamore, IL signed a letter of intent to play for the men's basketball team this coming fall. Carnahan is the first player to sign with the Saints for the 2009-10 season.
The 6'1'' guard averaged 11.7 points per game for Sycamore High School. "He was on a fast break, going down the court at full speed, and got to 15 feet and stopped, looked up, and banked it in," said second year Head Coach Steve Baumgartner. "You don't see that a lot of times."
Carnahan will bring a much needed spark on and off the court for the Saints. "He's got great character," Baumgartner said. "He's the nicest kid you'll ever meet."
Shane was able to join the team on a recruiting day last week held at the Pfeil Center. Carnahan said he looked forward to the upcoming season, and enjoyed playing with the team.
Returning nine players and mixed with a solid recruiting class, the Saints second season looks bright. "Next year, with a new recruiting class and more depth, we'll be able to play more up and down," Baumgartner said.
