Men's Soccer - Wed, Mar. 13, 2013

(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross Saints men's soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of Austin Haire (Porter, Ind.)  for the 2013 season.

Haire, the son of Richard and Sue Haire, will join the Saints during the fall of 2013 season after spending two seasons at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, Illinois where he helped guide the Pioneers to a 19-3 record last season. In two seasons at Prairie State, Haire amassed a total of 7 goals and 6 assists for a total of 20 career points in 39 games. Haire also received 2nd Team All-Conference in both seasons while at Prairie State College.

Prior to enrolling in junior college, Austin had a very successful high school career where he received 1st Team All-District during his senior year and was two-time 1st Team All-Conference in both his junior and senior seasons.

"Austin is a great signing for us," said Saints head coach Omar Gallo. "This year I thought we needed to take a look at some transfer players with a bit of college experience at the collegiate level, and thought Austin would be a great fit for us. When discussing with my assistant coach Kyle Zaber, we felt that Austin was the best fit for us with not only his athletic ability, but his personality. His versatility will allow us to play him at either the back or midfield position. He's an all-around soccer player with great touch on the ball and enjoys keeping things simple on the field while making the best decisions for the team on the pitch. We are very pleased about this signing and look forward to Austin attending Holy Cross College in the fall."

Austin becomes the first signing for the Saints for the 2013 season. Make sure and stay tuned to hcsaints.com for more updates on the Holy Cross men's soccer program during the off-season.
