(Rockledge, Fla.) The Holy Cross Saints men's golf team opened up the spring season with a second place finish in their tri-match between Brevard Community College and St. Peters University (Nj.), a Division I program.
The Saints shot a combined 298 in the match, led by senior Mike Prior (Schoolcraft, Mich.) who paved the way with a 71.
Chris Noble (Niles, Mich.) shot a 74, Matthew Code (Belleville, Ontario, Canada) a 76 and Michael Fitzgerald (Flossmoor, Ill.) closed out the scoring for the Saints with a 77.
Freshmen Cody Richardson (Howe, Ind.) and Michael Bush (Flossmoor, Ill.) each scored an 83 and 85 respectively for the Saints.
Fourth ranked Brevard Community College finished first in the match.
"I was pleased with our scores, especially since it was our first round of the season," said head coach Tim Holt. "I think we got some really good practice while in Florida and that this early start will prove to be beneficial to us as the season progresses. We look forward to defending our conference championship this upcoming season."
The Saints will return to the links in Fort Wayne, Indiana early next week at the Thrill at the Hill hosted by Indiana Tech
