This week in Holy Cross baseball: The Saints will resume action this week with seven games, five in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), in six days beginning in Kalamazoo, Mich. against  Kalamazoo College on Tuesday. Following Tuesday's doubleheader, they will head to Bensenville, Ill. to take on Robert Morris University with a doubleheader on Wednesday. The Saints will continue their stretch of road games on Friday with a nine inning game against Saint Xavier University before returning home on Saturday to cap off their three-game series with the Cougars at Coveleski Stadium.

Recapping last week: After a slow start to the week, where the Saints dropped their first series to Judson by a combined score of 34-3, the Saints closed out their 4-5 week by winning three of their last four matchups. Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Olivet Nazarene was the first time the Saints have defeated the Tigers in the history of the program. Mike Pizzuto recorded a hit in each of the nine games last week while recording two triples, one home run, ten RBI's and hitting .536 from the plate.

Head Coach Brian Blondell: Brian Blondell, the 2nd head coach in Holy Cross College history, is in his first season at the helm of the Saints. Currently , the Saints are off to a 14-21 start under Blondell.

Series note: Tuesday's doubleheader with the Hornets will be the eleventh and twelfth times the two programs will face off. Through ten games, the Hornets hold a 7-3 series advantage over the Saints; however, the Saints have rallied off three straight victories over Kalamazoo with the most recent being on May 1, 2012 in a doubleheader sweep.

Wednesday's doubleheader with Robert Morris marks the fifth and sixth times the two programs have met dating back to the 2011 season. Through their first four meetings, the Eagles have defeated the Saints each time and have scored at least ten runs in all four games. The last time the two squared off was on April 3, 2012 in South Bend where the Saints fell 10-2 and 11-2 in the doubleheader.

Wrapping up the seven game week, the Saints will head to Chicago, Ill. on Friday to open up their three-game series with the Cougars before heading home on Saturday for a doubleheader at Coveleski Stadium. Currently the Saints are 0-6 all-time versus the Cougars with their last meeting coming on March 25, 2012 in a 9-1 loss in South Bend.

Looking Back: Holy Cross finished the 2012 season with a  11-34 overall record and a 6-21 record in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Despite minimal successes in the win column, the Saints closed out the 2012 season with four consecutive wins.
