This week in Holy Cross baseball: The Saints will resume action this week with nine games, seven in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC), beginning in Bensenville, Ill. against the Eagles of Robert Morris University. Following Monday's doubleheader, the Saints will return home to face the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch University on Tuesday before heading to Westville, Ind. to open their three-game series with Purdue North Central which will conclude at Coveleski Stadium on Saturday. The Saints will round out their nine game week with a trip to U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind. for a nonconference matchup with Robert Morris.

Recapping last week: The Saints capped of a 3-2 week with a 13-2 game two win over Saint Xavier on Saturday to defeat the Cougars for the first time in program history. After sweeping Kalamazoo College to open the week, the Saints saw their four-game win streak end with an 11-8 loss at Saint Xavier on Friday. Despite losing game one to the Cougars 3-0 on Saturday, the Saints picked up a much needed win in game two to finish the week above .500.

Head Coach Brian Blondell: Brian Blondell, the 2nd head coach in Holy Cross College history, is in his first season at the helm of the Saints. Currently , the Saints are off to a 17-23 start under Blondell.

Series note: Monday's doubleheader with Robert Morris marks the fifth and sixth times the two programs have met dating back to the 2011 season. Through their first four meetings, the Eagles have defeated the Saints each time and have scored at least ten runs in all four games. The last time the two squared off was on April 3, 2012 in South Bend where the Saints fell 10-2 and 11-2 in the doubleheader. The Saints will also play the Eagles on Sunday, April 21 at U.S. Steelyard in Gary, Ind. two close out their nine game week.

The Saints will return home on Tuesday to host Cardinal Stritch University at Newton Park for the first time this season. The doubleheader with Stritch will mark the fifth and sixth times the two programs will have met dating back to the 2011 season. The Wolves lead the all-time series at 3-1; however, the Saints took the last meeting on April 26, 2012 with a 14-9 win in Milwaukee, Wisc.

Following the series with the Wolves, the Saints will open the weekend with a three game series with Purdue North Central beginning on Friday, April 19 in Westville, Ind. and ending on Saturday with a doubleheader at Coveleski Stadium. PNC leads the all-time series over the Saints currently at 5-1. The lone Saints victory came during the 2012 season with an 8-7 win over the Panthers in South Bend.

Looking Back: Holy Cross finished the 2012 season with a  11-34 overall record and a 6-21 record in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC). Despite minimal successes in the win column, the Saints closed out the 2012 season with four consecutive wins.
