(Notre Dame, Ind.) The Holy Cross men's soccer team is pleased to announce that Jacob Young (Cortland, Ohio) of Lakeview High School has chosen to continue his academic and athletic career at Holy Cross College beginning in the fall of 2013.

"We are very excited about the addition of Jacob," stated coach Gallo. "Jacob is one of the players who will give us options as coaches, especially on the attacking side of the pitch. Though he serves mainly as a forward, he's also capable of playing wing of the center mid position. Jacob is a determined individual both on and off the field that will bring 100% to every training session and match. We look forward to getting Jacob on campus this summer."

Jacob joins the Saints coming from an athletic family background where his mother, Jennifer Young-Cole, was an All-State soccer and basketball player who went on to play at the college level on a full athletic scholarship. Jacob's step dad, Clay Cole, has also been very inspirational and supportive throughout his soccer endeavors. Jacob is also the older brother of Marcus and Austin Cole.

"Jacob is one of the fittest and committed young players I have seen while recruiting," continued coach Gallo. "His passion and love for the game will lead others on this team. He is one of those players that will be the first to arrive and the last to leave which is something that, as a coach, we are always looking for."

Young will be carrying a lot of hardware with him when arrives at Holy Cross this summer. During his senior season he produced a career year where he scored 20 goals and dished out 15 assists. His hard work paid off when he was honored with All Area First Team, Area Soccer Player of the Year, First Team All-State, First Team All-Region and the Vindicator Athlete of the Year. Over his high school career, Jacob has scored over 60 goals and tallied up over 50 assists.

"We're very proud of Jacob of and his successes he had in high school," continued coach Gallo. "We're confident he will help our program get to the next level. We look forward to him becoming a Saint!"

Jacob is the second player to sign his letter of intent for the Saints men's soccer program.
