(Notre Dame, Ind.) Head Coach Brian Blondell and the Holy Cross baseball program are pleased to announce the signing of Christopher Woodruff (South Bend, Ind.) and Darwing Ereu (South Bend, Ind.) for the 2013-2014 season. Bother players join the Saints from Glen Oaks Community College.
"We're excited with the additions of Chris and Darwing," stated head coach Brian Blondell. "Both players give us experience to help continue the growth of our program."
Hailing form nearby Adams High School in South Bend, Christopher Woodruff hit .312 in 28 games for Glen Oaks while tallying 29 hits, two doubles and a triple. He also drove in six runs.
"Chris is a left handed hitting outfielder with a ton of speed and can play either left field or center field," Blondell stated. "Last season we had zero let handed hitters; with the addition of Chris, Steve Clancy and Jake Lanning, we now have three high quality left handed bats."
Also hailing from Adams High School in South Bend, Darwing Ereu (pictured above) joins the Saints after finishing up his sophomore season at Glen Oaks where he played in the infield and pitched. The versatility he brings to the team has coach Blondell excited.
"Darwing is a great athlete with some very good skills," continued Blondell. " He can play middle infield or third base and possesses a very good glove and a strong arm from across the diamond. Along with his fielding abilities, Darwing will provide us with another great upper 80's arm on the mound."
In his sophomore season, Darwing hit .252 with 16 RBI's and two doubles.
