Southfield, MICH. -- The Holy Cross Saints women's soccer team closed out their non-conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 loss to the Blue Devils of Lawrence Technological University. Despite the defeat, the Saints head to conference play with their best six-game start in program history.

The Blue Devils (5-2) were quick to strike in Wednesday's non-conference matchup, scoring the games first goal in just the third minute. They would add their second goal of the half in the 20th minute after a shot from 20 yards out by Danae Dicicco went into the top left corner over Saints goalkeeper Aileen Clouse (Beavercreek, Ohio).

At the break, the Blue Devils outshot the Saints 9-2 and had a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Aileen Clouse, who played just the first half in goal for the Saints, saved three of the five shots on net.

Much like the start of the game, the Blue Devils were quick to strike in the second half as they extended their lead to 3-0 in the 47th minute.

The Saints would keep the Blue Devils out of the net for the next 30 minutes until Lawrence Tech. added two final goals, both in the 82nd minute, to seal the game at 5-0.

The Saints were outshot in the contest 18-7.

Stacy Rubio (Northlake, Ill.) led the Saints with two shots on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Hayley Deisinger (Northwood, Ind.) played the second half in net for the Saints and finished with three saves.

The Saints (3-3) will open up Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action next Wednesday, September 25th against the Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) Tigers. The Tigers will come to Notre Dame, Ind. ranked 8th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA.). The game is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. EST.
