Recapping Last Week: The Saints wrapped up their non-conference schedule for the 2013 season over the weekend, taking on former CCAC-foe Illinois Tech. After 90 minutes of action, the game was tied at 2-2 and the Saints headed to overtime for the second consecutive game. It was in the second overtime period when senior captain Garbhan Grant netted his third goal of the game to give the Saints the 3-2 victory. Grant became the first Saint since Troy Padgett (2012) to score three goals in a game. The win ended a two-game losing streak and gave the team their first ever win over Illinois Tech.

Head Coach Omar Gallo: In his second season as the Saints head coach, Omar Gallo holds a career record of 16-10-3. Currently, the Saints are off to a 7-4 start, matching their best 11-game start in program history. Under Gallo's guidance, the Saints made their first ever Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play-off berth and won a program-best nine games in 2012.

Series Notes: Wednesday's meeting with Robert Morris will be the sixth all-time meeting between the two schools. The Saints last played the Eagles on Nov. 3, 2012 in the CCAC Quarter Finals. After a 2-2 draw through overtime, the Eagles defeated the Saints 4-1 in the shootout to advance in the conference tournament. Earlier in the season, the Saints picked up their first ever win against Robert Morris by a score of 2-1. Robert Morris leads in the series 4-1. Saturday's meeting with Roosevelt will be just the second all-time meeting between the two schools. The Saints defeated the Lakers 2-0 on Oct. 6, 2012 to lead the series 1-0.

Captains Named: For the second consecutive season, the Saints will go with the tri-captains of seniors Niko Jelicic and Garbhan Grant, along with junior Alex Clarke. All three men's soccer players are the first two-time captains in program history.

Scouting Robert Morris: Despite sitting at 1-3 with back-to-back losses, the Eagles bring back a talented team from a year ago, led by senior Gordy Gurson. In eight starts this season, Gurson leads the Eagles with seven goals and 14 points. Bobby Hurwitz and Chisom Ogbonna also have three goals apiece. In ten games this season, the Eagles have scored a goal in every game. Jose Garofalo and Juan Castrejon have split time in goal this season. Garofalo holds a record of 2-5 with a shutout and a 2.31 goals against average while Castrejon is 2-1 with a shutout and a goals against average of 1.14.

Scouting Roosevelt: In jus their second season as a varsity program, the Lakers are off to a great start in 2013. Currently holding a 3-game win streak, the Lakers are now tied for fourth place in the CCAC. They have yet to lose a game at home, sitting at 3-0-1 on the year. Four Lakers have compiled ten or more points so far this season; Leo Rodriguez leads the way with 14 points (4g, 6a). Jamie Zepeda has a team-best six goals (13 points) while Andrew Obmalay and Irving Balboa each have 11 points. In goal, Jake Cigelnik leads the team with a 5-2-1 record, inlcuding a shutout and a goals against average of 1.21.

There's No Place Like Home: The Saints have played their best soccer during the 2013 season when at their home field. In five home games this season, the Saints have ourscored their opponents 12-4 and are a perfect 5-0 on the year. Under coach Gallo's guidance, the Saints have a record of 11-1-1 when playing at their home field.

Fixing Road Woes: Despite their impressive home record, the Saints have struggled on the road during the 2013 season, compiling a record of 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference. Along with Roosevelt's success at home, the Saints will have a tough task against the Lakers on Saturday.

Grant Records Milestone: After his 3-goal performance, which included the game-winner against Illinois Tech, senior captain Garbhan Grant has become the all-time points leader in men's soccer history with 42. Through 11 games this season, Grant leads the Saints in goals (7) and points (17); both which are new career-bests.

This and That: Garbhan Grant ranks 24th in the NAIA in game-winning-goals with 3 ... captain Niko Jelicic is one game away from appearing in his 60th career game as a member of the Saints ... only two other players have appeared in more games (Damian Marciniak 63 [08-11] and Garbhan Grant 62 [10-present]) ... in all seven wins this season, the Saints have been the first to score ... the success is also noted when they outshoot opponents (6-1).
